| Department Mission
The Department of Family Science at
College for Women, prepares graduates recognized by
government bodies, educational and research
institutes, and the private sector in Kuwait, the
Gulf region and globally. The graduates possess
sound, current and comprehensive educational and
professional skills related to nutrition and food
science. This is achieved through a program that
will produce graduates who:
- Are adaptable.
- Communicate effectively.
- Have strong professional ethics.
- Understand scientific knowledge and its
application to the specific profession.
- Apply this knowledge to promote individual
and family well-being in the community.
Fields of Study
Students will cover the following
topics as relevant to their fields of study:
- Concepts of food and nutrition within the
socio- economic context of Kuwait society.
- Changes in nutritional requirements
throughout life.
- Nutrition education and communication.
- Nutrition therapeutics.
- Food hygiene, safety and sanitation.
- Food science and technology.
- Management of foodservice and food
production organization.
