Communication Science and Disorders
is a field that focuses on understanding the
processes of normal speech, language, and hearing,
as well as assessing, diagnosing, and treating those
with communicative disorders. The program enables
students to develop the essential knowledge of
communicative disorders based on scientific
principles, skills, and approaches required for
working with of all ages and individuals with a wide
range of speech, language, and hearing impairments.
The Department of Communication
Science and Languages (CSL) offers a Bachelor’s of
Science degree in Communication disorders with an
emphasis on speech and language. The program is
designed to introduce students to important issues
in communication disorders while developing their
communication, independent learning, organizational
and leadership skills. The program is offered with
the objective of blending the general education
requirements with career specific knowledge and
professional skills. Graduates have a range of
career opportunities in schools, medical centers,
universities, rehabilitation centers and private
practices.
