College for Women prepares for
Academic Program Approval
The College for Women has embarked
on a mission of equipping its graduates with the
best of intellectual capacities and professional
skills to contribute for the development of Kuwaiti
society in all spheres of life. Under the dynamic
leadership of its founder dean, Dr. Sana BuHamra,
this college has been one of the first institutions
at Kuwait University to opt for the implementation
of outcomes-based learning model for its academic
programs to cater to the society as well as to the
market needs of the State of Kuwait.
To meet the requirements for
outcomes-based learning, the college has established
an Office of Assessment and Accreditation headed by
a director. This office serves to train college
faculty and staff members about the assessment
programs and in meeting the accreditation
requirements for its five academic programs by
various accrediting agencies. According to Professor
Jiwan Sidhu, Director of Office of assessment and
Accreditation, the major goals of this office are to
coordinate assessment processes; to develop and
implement regularly scheduled student, alumni and
employer surveys; to organize training programs and
workshops on outcomes-based learning for the faculty
and students of this college.
Over the last two years, this office
has been holding a number of training programs and
workshops for the faculty, staff and students, but
this activity being of a continuous nature, number
of workshops are being planned in the coming year.
The College for Women is committed to develop a
highly competitive and supportive environment for
the students so that they can be on the cutting edge
of science and technology while still maintaining
the highest standards of professional Arabic and
Islamic ethics and social responsibilities towards
the Kuwaiti society.
